Usually when you think of a roll top desk you equate that with an antique roll top desk.  In reality there are many current designers who have a wide variety of styles and sizes available for a multitude of uses.  While a designer may fashion his/her roll top desk after traditional Victorian desks they take on new characteristics that enable them to be useful in the current technological age.  For instance, while some may be expensive, you can find a lovely roll top computer desk that will be functional as well as elegant.  Prices may vary, but a line that I am personally partial to are manufactured by Riverside and they can run from $2,000 to $4,000 and upwards.

Ashley Furniture has a roll top computer desk line available as well.  They list Drake and Glen Eagle roll top desks that are quite fashionable.  While the prices are not listed on their website, their slogan is “Great style doesn’t have to be expensive.” Not only can you purchase online but there are showroom locations listed as well.  If you are fortunate enough to live near one it may very well be worth the trip to get a look at a roll top desk.  The prices may be reasonable depending on the season.  You also may be able to find a discount, wholesale or used roll top computer desk with considerable savings but don’t sacrifice quality in the process.

If you are at all handy and price is a concern you might want to build your own roll top computer desk.  You can look online or at a hardware store, a book store or even home improvement stores like Home Depot or Lowes for a set of roll top desk plans.  If you are handy enough you could build one from scratch from the plans or you could get a roll top desk kit that has been pre-cut and drilled, ready to be assembled.  It may bring sizable savings, but it will also take a certain amount of knowledge and labor. So, just so that we get things straight here, if you are not the typical handyman type of person, then building a roll top computer desk yourself is probably not an option for you. Nowadays, we might not use those messy old style of ink pens, however, a computer with a bunch of cables hanging around it can get pretty messy as well.
